Overview

The BSB50120 Diploma of Business covers the skills and knowledge required to engage and manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices.

This qualification would apply to individuals with various job titles including executive officers, program consultants and program coordinators. Individuals in these roles may possess substantial experience in a range of settings but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.

Conversely, it may also apply to those with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.

Entry Requirements:

The entry requirements of this course for all students

  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Satisfactorily completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent
  • Have English proficiency level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or Complete and Pass HIA LLN Assessment

Course Duration and Mode of Delivery

The course is delivered over a period of 52 weeks equating to 36 contact study weeks plus 16 weeks for holidays.

The mode of delivery is 20 hours per week on a blended delivery of 14 hours face to face in the classroom plus 6 hours online study.

Assessment Method

The assessment of each unit of competency will take place during the course. Assessments will vary from unit to unit and may take the form of an open book theory assessment / activities, questioning, assignment, project work, practical activities in a simulated work environment, role plays, case studies, presentation, written reports or a combination of the aforementioned.

Students are provided with a Student Assessment Booklet at the commencement of each unit of competency and the Booklet sets out the range and types of assessments that will be sued for this unit.

Pathways to Further Study / Career Opportunities:

Graduates of this qualification may undertake further study in the Business and Management streams at the Advanced Diploma or Graduate Certificate / Diploma levels or Degree studies. After achieving this qualification, graduates may undertake the next qualification up BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business. Attainment of this qualification may enable the participant to fill positions in office management, personnel management, business development management and accounts management. There are many job roles including but not limited to:

  • Executive officer
  • Program consultant
  • Program coordinator

Once students have completed the BSB50120 Diploma of Business, they will be able to seek employment or continue their studies into higher education.

Information will also be provided to students on further training options available to them to further enhance their skill set such as the Diploma of Leadership and Management or the bachelor’s in business (externally) or other related qualifications.
