Overview
This CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.
Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.

The entry requirements of this course:
- Be 18 years of age or over
- Have satisfactorily completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent.
- Have English proficiency level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or complete and pass HIA English Test

Course Duration and Mode of Delivery
The course is delivered over a period of 104 weeks equating to 62 weeks of delivery, 14 weeks work placement, and 28 weeks of holidays.
The mode of delivery is 20 hours per week on a blended delivery of 14 hours face to face in the classroom plus 6 hours online study.
Qualification Requirements
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 200 hours of work in a regulated care facility in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number at HIA is 280 hours and 80 hours will be applied collectively across all units of competency, while 200 hours is required in 2 units, each requiring 100 hours each.

Assessment Method
Assessment is competency based. Students are required to complete written and practical tasks, which reflect the requirements of the units of competency and current workplace practices. Assessment is continuous throughout the duration of the course.
